PALS

We have been following the PALS reading system in our class. (Peer Assisted Learning Strategies). We work in pairs to read a book. First we have "Partner Reading", where we listen to our partner reading and help to correct any mistakes they make. Then we have "Retell", where the reader tells the coach what the reading was about. Then we have "Paragraph Shrinking", where the reader shrinks the main idea of the paragraph into a statement of ten words or less. Finally, we have "Prediction Relay", where the coach asks the reader to make a reasonable prediction about what will happen in the next half page and then see if they were right. We are hoping that these strategies will improve our fluency and comprehension.
