TV or no TV?

We had a lively debate in class on the day of the holidays about TV. One half of the class debated that TV is a waste of time, while the other half debated that it is not. There were some good points made on both sides. In the end, the motion was defeated. The top speakers of the the debate were Ally and Brianna.

Well done to the Cavan Shamrock's team who were winners of the League Cup yesterday evening in Cootehill. Six members of the team are in our class.

Bananas

We've been learning about where bananas come from and how they get to Ireland in our Geography lesson about "trade". We were also reading a recipe for banana pancakes, so we made them at school.

Junior Entrepreneurs

We have been busy for the past ten weeks, participating in the Junior Entrepreneur Project. This is a national programme which gets primary school children involved in setting up their own business. We started off with 5 ideas which had to be presented to a Dragons' Den. The idea which was chosen for our business was "Handy Holders"- pencil holders made from recycled materials. We were divided up into 5 teams- the finance team, the marketing team, the sales team, the design and production team and the story-telling team. We had our "Showcase day" on Friday the 21st March and many of our parents came in to watch the presentation which was given by the story-telling team. We sold over 300 holders and made a profit of over €900. We're delighted, as we are going to use the money to go camping.
