Visit to ATA group

Fifth and sixth class were invited to visit the ATA Group premises on the 31st May. ATA is a manufacturing plant located in the IDA industrial estate behind the Hotel Kilmore. It's a worldwide manufacturer and distributer of carbide spurs, pneumatic air tools and speciality abrasives, employing 200 people in the Cavan area alone. The Director of the Group, Mr Peter Cosgrove was the main sponsor of the Cavan Junior Entrepreneur Programme. On a visit to the school in January, he invited us to come and visit the plant before the school year was out. Thanks to Joanne Gannon, that trip was arranged and we were intrigued to discover what goes on in the factory. The specialised machines were very interesting to see and the sound-proof room was fascinating! Maybe some of the students will find jobs there in the years ahead.
